Namaqualand

Namaqualand is located in the northwestern corner of South Africa.  Namaqualand is the traditional home of the Nama people (qua means people in the Khoi language). This little corner used to be known as Little Namaqualand.

The southern parts of Namibia used to be called Great Namaqualand but it is now known as Namaland.

The Heart of Namaqualand is known as the Namaquland Hills (Namaqualand klipkoppe or the Hardeveld as it is known in Afrikaans).  The "Hardeveld" is characterised by the rounded granite boulders that form low mountains with flat  sandy areas between them.
