Distribution:  Namaqualand, Bushmanland, Tanqua Karoo and southern Great Karoo.
Description:  Plants 200 - 300 in height, short thick stem divides into smaller stems.  The subterete leaves appear at the tips of these branches which are covered with old inflorescence.  The very short young branches are about 10 mm thick, the leaf cars dissapear anually with the peeling bark, this does not occur on ssp phyllopodium - this ssp is covered with phyllopodia.

Cultivation:  The following cultivation tips are for Kleinzee, NCape, ZA.   Under UV deck (UV protected clear greenhouse plastic), regular water autumn through spring, no water in summer.
