Distribution:  The plant was first collected near Tschuakaib by Marloth.  Fairly common in the Coastal  deserts in Namibia.
Description:  The swollen, rounded stem is partially buried, short branches with narrow folded leaves appear on the stem.
Flower: Solitary cyathia appear on persistent peduncles, after succesful pollination an explosive, glabrous capsule develops.
Propagation:  Seeds and cuttings.
Cultivation:  Regular food & water in Autumn to mid-Spring, light sprays in Summer.
