Distribution: Aloe melanacantha is found in very arid areas in rocky and sandy soils, between altitudes of 300 and 900 meters on slopes and hills. It is found from Bitterfontein to the Orange River and the southern regions of Namibia. |

Flower: Flowers are pinkish or yellowish and appear in June. |

Description: Stemless or procumbent (up to 50cm), stems are dense with old growth. Small round rosettes form groups of up to one meter across. Leaves are rough and dull green in colour. There are sharp black thorns on the keel and margin. |
