Description:

Snout Beetles affect Aloes, mainly their leaves.  They leave scars margins of the leaves.  The larvae of the snout beetle are the culprits, they burrow into the crown of the Aloe and then destroy the whole plant.  These pests are usually active in the summer months.

Treatment:

Environmentally freindly:

  •  

Chemical:

  • Metasystox - 10ml/10l water

  • Malathion - 25ml/10l water

  • Bexadust or Carbondust

  • When the larvae are dead cut away the damaged areas and treat with flowers of sulphur, treat large wounds with tree sealer.
