Nematodes
Eelworms

Description:

Nematodes (Eelworms) are microscopic worms that attack the plants roots.  The nematodes create gross distortions and lumps on the roots of infected plants.  This prevents vital water, nutrients and minerals requird for good plant growth.  Succulent Pelargoniums and Sarcocaulons are susceptible to eelworm attacks.

Treatment:

Environmentally freindly:

  • Companion plants, like Marigolds, grown close to your plants and then dug into the ground chases the eelworms away.  The smell of the Marigolds is apparently unbearable for the eelworms.

Chemical:

  • Drench the soil with a eelworm pesticide.
