Distribution:  Found in Cedarburg, Ceres Karoo and Sutherland areas of the south-western Cape.

Description:  S. arenosa is a variable spp.  The pubescent stems are acutely four-angled, semi-procumbent up to 300 mm.

Flower:  A cluster of deep purple flowers (30 mm in diameter) are borne on a pedicel near the base of the stem or sub-terminally.  The corolla is rugose , the wrinkles on the disc are white while the wrinkles on the lobes fade from purple to white.   The lobes are shortly ciliate.

Cultivation:  Shade/sun, little to moderate water.
